A Message from Our President
A Message from our President
Kia ora (hello) and welcome to the Consular Corps of Washington DC.
A diplomatic or consular appointment in Washington DC is often a career highlight, but for consular professionals such an appointment comes with great responsibility and lots of hard work.
The Consular Corps of Washington DC provides an established collegial network of consular practitioners, officials and supporters of our profession – something that is invaluable whether you’re new to the field or Washington DC, or an experienced Consul or official able to share your expertise and knowledge with others.
The year 2020 has certainly sent more than a few challenges our way as consular professionals but also personally as the pandemic has affected our daily lives in an unprecedented way. While the COVID-19 pandemic and related precautions and restrictions on gatherings have put a dampener on our ability to network and engage in-person, we remain a valuable support network and continue to work collaboratively to resolve the many challenges we all face in the provision of consular services to our citizens in the United States. We do, however, look forward to resuming our series of networking, professional development and training opportunities for Consuls, diplomats, consular officers, officials and supporters of our work as soon as pandemic conditions allow it.
In the meantime, please don’t hesitate to reach out if you are tackling a tricky consular issue that myself or our wider network of members may be able to help you out with through the sharing of knowledge or by working collectively to overcome the challenges.
I look forward to engaging with you and collaborating on all things consular!
President, Consular Corps of Washington, DC
