A Message from Our President
I am happy to welcome you on the website of the Consular Corps of Washington, DC.
Whether you are a newcomer to Washington or have lived here for a long time, the Consular Corps of Washington, DC offers you great opportunities to meet and learn from your fellow consular professionals. It is a very effective group of members with broad consular and administrative work experience. You have the opportunity not only to meet career Diplomats and Consuls, but also local consular and administrative staff from Embassies, and corporate representatives who support the diplomatic community.
Our series of working-lunches and afternoon-meetings features guest speakers from a wide range of disciplines, including visas and citizenship, legal and health care issues, and contingency planning. In addition, we can regularly offer half-day training sessions on such subjects as pandemic responses or fraudulent document detection. The focus is very much on providing information that is useful and relevant for both experienced consular officers and those new to consular work. If you have a topic in mind, let me know and I will try my best to include it in the program.
As consular life involves long, strenuous hours which keep us busy and away from our partners and families travelling the world with us, Consular Corps members regularly get together socially in various locations throughout the DC area. It is a great way to combine professional and social platforms.
In short, the Consular Corps offers you an open door to Washington where you can exchange knowledge and information in a professional and friendly environment and make friends at our social events.
New members and guests are always welcome. Come join us and see how you can profit from the vast work experience of the members of the Consular Corps of Washington, DC.
I look forward to seeing you at our next event,
Leo Kalberer Bächtiger
President, Consular Corps of Washington, DC
